Dr. Andrea Csiszar's Bio:
Dr. Andrea Csiszar DMD, M.Sc., Dipl Perio, FRCD, FCDS is a board certified periodontist currently practicing in her own clinic in New Westminster, British Columbia.
Dr. Csiszar earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1999 from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. While earning her Bachelor of Science degree, Dr. Csiszar earned a number of academic awards and participated in several research efforts, including studying post surgical pediatric pain management at British Columbia Children’s Hospital. From 1999 to 2003, Dr. Csiszar attended the University of British Columbia to earn her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD). During her four years in the program, Dr. Csiszar was the recipient of several recognitions, including the BC Society of Periodontists Prize, the Dr. Earl Ellison Prize for geriatric dentistry, and the Integrated Clinical Care Honour Roll Award. After earning her DMD, Dr. Csiszar completed her education by attending the University of British Columbia for her Masters of Science (M.Sc.) and Diploma in Periodontics, a program which she completed in 2006. While earning her masters, Dr. Csiszar completed her thesis on the topic of cell and molecular biology in hereditary gingival fibromatosis.
Upon successfully completing her masters degree, Dr. Csiszar began her career as a periodontist, first by serving as a periodontist and implant surgeon from 2006 to 2008 for the Imperio Group in North Vancouver. In 2008, Dr. Csiszar formed her own, incorporated periodontal practice in New Westminster, British Columbia, which is where Dr. Csiszar currently practices.
As a board certified periodontist, Dr. Andrea Csiszar focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases and implant placement. Her practice also performs connective tissue grafts, anterior aesthetic implants, biopsies to diagnose oral diseases and aesthetic crown lengthening procedures.
Dr. Andrea Csiszar’s practice enjoys the talents of two assistants to Dr. Csiszar, as well as one hygienist. The office is located at 801 – 625 Fifth Avenue in New Westminster.
In addition to working at and managing her periodontal practice, since 2003 Dr. Csiszar has served as an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of British Columbia, a teaching position in which she remains currently active. Dr. Csiszar has also mentored multiple dental study clubs and currently mentors a local chapter of the Seattle Study Club, which has 16 dentists as its members and meets on a monthly basis. Dr. Csiszar is experienced in lecturing on a broad range of topics to dentists, dental hygienists, dental staff, undergraduate dentistry students and graduate periodontics students. Topics of these lectures have varied and have included the role of inflammation in periodontal disease, wound healing, surgical crown lengthening and the interrelationship between orthodontics and periodontics.
Dr. Csiszar has participated in a number of volunteer efforts, such as volunteering at Outreach Dental Clinic and the University of British Columbia Hospital, Extended Care Unit. Dr. Csiszar is also a member of several professional affiliations, including serving as a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a Fellow of the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia and a Member of the British Columbia Society of Periodontists.
